Foil Thickness Gauge

FTG 2000

The TQC Film thickness gauge is a high precision film and foil thickness gauge, especially developed for measuring so-called "replica tapes" as Testex®, used mainly to measure the surface profile.

The large clear display makes it easy to read the measurement under all conditions. Values can be displayed in either microns or inches.

To minimise the influence of body/hand temperature the gauge is mounted detached from the holder.

The TQC film thickness gauge operates completely according to "ISO 8503-5 Preparation of steel substrates before application of paints and related products - Surface roughness characteristics of blast-cleaned steel substrates - part 5: Replica tape method for the determination of the surface profile."

As described in this standard the closing force is 1,5 N. The gauge has to have an accuracy of 5 micron and a resolution of 1 micron. The TQC Film thickness gauge is supplied in a hardcase.

PowderTAG is a non-contact production tool, developed for use at the paint-line. Because the PowderTAG’s pulse does not need to be perpendicular, and has a small measuring spot, the PowderTAG is very suitable to accurately determine the layer thickness on small, curved or hard to reach objects. Even on wire frames or small corners and edges. A LED pointer assists in determining the correct distance and location.

Due to the non-contact measuring principle parts can be tested on a slow moving line without damaging the coating. For higher line speeds it is recommended to remove the part of the line via a bypass or stop the line.

Surfix Pro X

Premium Dry Film Thickness Gauge with External Probe

Surfix Pro X is the new premium dry film thickness gauge of Phynix. In addition to all specifications to Surfix Pro S, this new device has a high resolution color display and Bluetooth 4,0 and USB 2,0 connection interface with an extended memory for 50.000 measurements.

A wide range of interchangeable probes provides many options for universal as well as special measurement tasks. It includes one of the world’s smallest measuring sensors which guarantees reliable measurements even on difficult geometries.

F-type probes operates only with the magnetic method (TS 2311 EN ISO 2178) to measure the coating thickness on ferrous substrates like steel and iron, N-types probes measures only with the eddy current method (TS 2674 EN ISO 2360) in order to measure on non-ferrous surfaces like aluminium, brass, zinc, etc. FN-type probes operates both with magnetic method and the eddy current method to ensure operation on all kind of metals.

Another application field where Surfix Pro X can be used is the tyre and conveyor belt industries. With specially designed probes for measurements on steel mesh, it is used for measurement of the rubber layer on the different parts of a tyre as well as the conveyor belts for quality control, wear tests and measuring of rubber thickness e.g. in evaluation of accident tyres.

Positector 200

Ultrasonic Coating Thickness Gauge

The Defelsko Positector 200 measures non-destructively a wide variety of applications using proven ultrasound technology. Measures coating thickness over wood, concrete, plastics, composites and more. Advanced models measure up to 3 individual layer thicknesses in a multi-layer system and features a graphic readout for detailed analysis of the coating system.

Dry film Thickness Gauge with Interchangable External Probes

The Surfix® S portable coating thickness gauge with its exchangeable probes is designed for fast, practical and precise Coating Thickness Measurement. Depending on the selected probe, it can be used for all types of varnish, paint and electroplated coatings on iron and steel as well as varnish, paint and anodising coatings on non-ferrous metals and on austenitic stainless steels.

Surfix-S has three different types: Standard ,Pro and Basic. When used with a FN probe, all three types has a substrate recognition function which makes the Fe / NFe selection fully automatic right after positioning the probe on the surface, which also can be set manually. Standard types provides also statistical data (N, Avg, Std. Dev., Min, Max) over a number of measurements. Statistical data can be transferred to PC over IR Interface for documentation.

Surfix Pro-S also provides statistical data (N, Avg, Std. Dev., Min, Max) up to 10000 measurements in max. 250 nameable batch files. Statistical data can be transferred to PC over IR or RS 232 interface for documentation. Optional Software Prosoft is also available. It also allows 2 foil calibration in order to produce most accurate measurements.
