Recirculating Chillers
Cooling devices for Dissolvers and Bead Mills
Repeatable results in laboratory, pilot plant and production
According to Winkler Model, success of a dispersion or fine grinding process is not only a function of time but more importantly a function of "Energy Density" of the system.
As the Energy density is correlated with Mechanical Power Input it is also dependent on Moment.
P = 2 π n M | ||||
P | = | power [Nm/s = J/s = W] | ||
π | = | 3.141... | ||
n | = | speed [1/s] | ||
M | = | torque [Nm] |
The torque of a certain millbase is relevant to the viscosity which can change dramatically with the change of temperature.
Due to this, result of a trial of same formulation with same constant rotation speed in same time in wintertime with a cooling fluid of 13°C , may be completely different from the result of the summertime trial where the cooling fluid temperature is 23°C
In order get repeatable results with a constant speed operation, it is essential to work with same cooling fluid temperatures. A recirculating chiller is recommended where repeatability is important. Usage of such recirculator also prevents loss of high amount of clean water where tap water is only alternative for cooling.
