TQC Viscosity Flow Cups - Lory Cup

Immersion Type Flow Cups

The TQC Lory Cup is designed for quick measurements on location or during production processes. The bottom of this cup is provided with a small hole and needle point. The product measured will flow out of the small hole and as soon as the needle point appears during this process, the flow time is determined.

TQC-Sheen Cone and Plate Viscometer CP1

The Cone and Plate Viscometer is a standard test for dynamic viscosity measurements. As non-Newtonian fluids exhibit different viscosities relative to the shear rate applied, the Cone and Plate Viscometer tightly controls it to 10,000S-1 (B.S. requirements) or to 12,000S-1 (ASTM).

The Cone and Plate Viscometer (CP1) is a standard test for dynamic viscosity measurements. It is faster and more accurate by use of new high precision microprocessor controls. As non-Newtonian fluids exhibit different viscosities relative to the shear rate applied, the Cone and Plate Viscometer tightly controls it to 10,000S-1 (B.S. requirements) or to 12,000S-1 (ASTM). These are generally accepted to be representative of paint application via a roller or brush and so reflect ‘real world’ application.

Temperature controlled As most viscosity measurements are highly temperature sensitive the samples are placed on a temperature controlled plate which can be set from 5°C to 65°C.

The Cone and Plate Base Unit comes without cone kit. Cone kits to be ordered separately.

TQC-Sheen Digital Krebs Viscometer (480)

This modern digital instrument provides automated motor operation, without weights & pulley, allowing accurate direct reading in KU (Krebs units), mPa.s (cP) or g (gram).

Based on the popular traditional KREBS method, using a weight-driven rotating paddle to sense the paint viscosity at a constant 200 rpm, this modern digital instrument provides automated motor operation, without weights & pulley, allowing accurate direct reading in KU (Krebs units), mPa.s (cP) or g (gram). The conversion between these units is automatically calculated by the microprocessor and displayed on request. Sturdy construction allows for use either in a production environment or in the laboratory.

  • Single or continuous reading in KU, mPa.s (cP), gram
  • Over-range indication
  • Simple to install rotor spindle into quick release chuck
  • Easy to clean
  • Safety height sensor preventing the rotor from rotating above the can
  • Possibility of multi-point calibration by user with optional key
  • Memory for 9 readings
  • RS232 serial interface to printer

Standard package: Viscometer, rotor spindle, 1 pint (500 ml) / Ø85 mm can, printer cable.

TQC-Sheen RotoThinner

Special Rotational Viscometer acc. to
TS EN ISO 2884-2
(Paints and varnishes - Determination of viscosity using rotary viscometers - Part 2: Disc or ball viscometer operated at a specified speed)
BS 3900-A7:1968
(Methods of test for paints. Tests on liquid paints (excluding chemical tests). Determination of the viscosity of paint at a high rate of shear)

The TQC-Sheen RotoThinner offers a two instrument in one option for material testing. It offers easy continuous monitoring of the material viscosity during the addition of solvents and thinners to create supply or RFU viscosity. However uniquely the instrument also allows definitive viscosity analysis at times pre-selected by the user, providing excellent data relating to shear performance, perfect for laboratory and factory applications.

The flexibility of the TQC-Sheen RotoThinner allows the user the ultimate control during the viscosity reduction process whilst also providing very useful stability analysis. It is therefore perfectly suitable for use in both production and laboratory environments.

The supplied tin container is filled with sample fluid and positioned on a magnetic ring mounted on top the base. The spindle is submersed in the sample fluid by lowering the handle. When the handle has reached the lowest point, the spindle starts rotating with a set constant speed. The displays shows the actual measured viscosity in poise.

The reading of free flowing fluids will quickly be steady. More Structured materials will need more time because the spindle applies shear that influences the reading. That’s why the TQC-Sheen RotoThinner offers several reading presets. The manual reading starts when the handle is at its lowest point. The continuous reading gives continuous measurement results. The max hold function shows the maximum reading, whereas the time-to-reading function offers the opportunity to automatically take readings with a set time interval. An automatic display hold function is available to freeze the reading so it can be noted more easily.

Three measuring ranges in one instrument

The TQC-Sheen RotoThinner is supplied with one spindle, but in total three spindles are available: one plate and two ball spindles. With these spindles three measuring ranges from 0 to 350 poise are covered.

Easy-to-clean

After taking the reading(s) the handle can be lifted to a level where the spindle is just below the rim of the sample container. This level offers the operator the opportunity to spin off the sample material. When the handle is raised to its maximum extent the spindle automatically switches off. The quick release chuck allows for quick spindle exchange and eases cleaning the instrument and spindles.

Accurate and repeatable

The TQC-Sheen RotoThinner is microprocessor controlled which ensures a higher accuracy and repeatability. The accuracy is enhanced by the automatic multipoint calibration, for which no dongle is required.

TQC-Sheen Gel Strength Tester 414N

Gel Strength Tester (414N) is especially suited to assess the yield strength and consistency of thick paints and other materials such as gels and putties etc.

The TQC Sheen Gel Strength Tester (414N) is especially suited to assess the yield strength and consistency of thick paints and other materials such as gels and putties etc.

A 250 ml can containing the sample is magnetically fastened onto the turntable of the Gel Strength Tester. This turntable is loaded with a calibrated spring displaying an engraved scale of 0-450 gm/cm.

When immersed into the sample, the flat 4 x 2 cm paddle spindle rotates automatically at 2 rpm. The paddle spindle drives the whole can and turntable. After a peak reading followed by a short time of stabilisation, a steady torque value is indicated on the Gel Strength Tester’s scale.

Other paddle sizes are available on request.

  • Simple to install paddle spindle
  • Easy to clean
  • Safety height sensor
