Special-Primer PE 6800

Special-Primer PE 6800

Special-Primer PE 6800 is an adhesion promoter developed especially for polyethylene.

Before developing this Special-Primer PE 6800 it was necessary to treat the polyethylene surface by flame or corona shooting. With Special-Primer PE 6800 it is possible to obtain sufficient adhesion to following coatings. After treatment with PE 6800 polyethylene can be painted, printed, glued or labelled like any other substrate. Special Primer PE 6800 is suitable as an adhesion promoter for polyethylene of high, medium and low density (lowdensity-polyethylene).

Before usage Special-Primer PE 6800 must be stirred thoroughly. For application SpecialPrimer PE 6800 must be diluted to 2.5% solids with suitable solvents. If necessary, untreated polyethylene has to be cleaned with e.g. white spirit.

The primer may be applied by spraying, dipping or printing. Special-Primer PE 6800 should be applied in a thin and uniform layer. The drying is completely physically. At room temperature recoatability after 2 - 3 minutes is given. By adding heat the drying time can be further reduced. Painting, printing, gluing or labelling can follow immediately or even months later. It should be observed that after any long storage time the substrate treated with Special-Primer PE 6800 may need cleaning before any further coating can be applied.
